What to look for

  • 2-door vs 4-door. Flares, running boards and soft top accessories differ between JL and JLU. Check which body style a part lists.
  • Headlight housing size. The JL uses a 9-inch round headlight. A 7-inch housing is a TJ/JK part and needs an adapter ring.
  • Steel vs ABS flares. Steel high-clearance flares clear 37" tires and take a hit; ABS pocket flares are lighter and cheaper for street builds.
  • Switch pod wiring. JL AUX switches can tap the factory AUX circuit — no cutting into the harness.

Is 2018 a JK or a JL?

2018 was a crossover year — Jeep sold both. Check the badge: JL has a slanted grille and square LED-ready headlight surrounds.
